He was elected as the president of Indian National Congress (INC). But he resigned soon from that position as he had contradictions with the non violence policies.
During Second World War he utilized the tiresome situation of the British and formed Indian National Army. He organized a troop of people for his military by selecting them from the Prisons and plantations of Malaysia and neighboring countries. He had a strategical alliance with the Axis powers which really agitated the British and other Allied countries.
On August 18, 1945, Netaji was declared dead. It was said that he died in a Japanese plane crash near Taiwan. But there were no physical evidence of the crash. To unveil this mystery a commission was set on the year 1999 under the leadership of Justice Mukherjee. This commission had a formal enquiry with the Taiwan government and finally came with a conclusion that there was no such accident reported during the period which presumed the death of Netaji.
On the other hand a saint (sanyasi) by name ‘Bhagwanji’ reported to have lived in Faisabad, near Ayodhi. He died in the year 1985. During several occasions when Bhagwanji was alive he claimed himself as Netaji. After his death the belongings of the saint was inspected by the committee and finally declared that there are no proper evidence for such beliefs.
Though he passed away his death is still a mystery and history cannot forget his footsteps in the Independence of most India and most other Asian countries.
